I hang out with refugee kids in the ESL after school group called Face Time. First we hope to build relationships of trust. Then we can tell our stories through art. Face Time is a safe place to learn about who we are and how we fit into the world.

We have been able to create many amazing pieces of art in our Art Class this year. Some of the things we have made, for example are; sock dolls, string paintings, cardboard cityscapes, newspaper people sculptures, clay pumpkins and bowls are just some of our art fun! We have had a great time!

Therapeutic Art with Refugee Children 2010
Thanks to One Horizon and Interchange I have received a grant to do Therapeutic Art with refugee children around Lexington. I have worked one on one and in group settings. The children have enjoyed expressing their emotions and telling their stories through art.
ECOART project with Seedleaf 2010
Seedleaf and I were awarded a grant from Lexington Fayette Urban County Government Department of Environmental Quality and LexArts to make garden art teaching posts. These wood blocks are painted and displayed in gardens around Lexington. Children from William Wells Brown, Kid's Cafe, The Carnegie Center, Gainsway, Florence Crittendon and a few kids from my own street helped paint the posts.
Art in Brazil with Georgetown College Students
Seventeen of us from Georgetown College made sock puppets with 150 children in a public elementary school in Garca, Brazil.
We completely enjoyed our time with them. Creating the puppets together gave us a chance to exchange culture, language and JOY!

Face Time Summer Art Class
